Florida football recruiting: Gators a major threat to flip Chance Robinson
By Will Thomas
Florida football recruiting, after a great few months, has come to a stall. They’ve had some big weekends of official visits, but those are yet to yield any new commitments to the Gators. In fact, we’ve seen TJ Moore choose Clemson, and Chauncey Bowens flip to UGA.
But the Gators still have one of the best class averages in the country and are in play for some of the best players in the cycle.
One of those guys is Miami wide receiver commit Chance Robinson.
After being a Florida lean for a long time, Chance committed to Miami in April. It put a bit of a damper on recruiting in The Swamp, as Billy Napier was unable to close on the wideout to help out DJ Lagway.
Now, Napier has Izaiah Williams committed, and may not be out of the race of Chance just yet.
After his OV to The Swamp, Chance tweeted this out:
Tweeting out what seems to be a top-three schools (Florida, Miami, Penn State) while committed isn’t something you see every day.
Plus, Blake Alderman of 247 Sports wrote how Chance is finding it “hard to say no” to the pitch that Gator WR coach Billy Gonzales is selling to him.
It’s clear that the sweepstakes for Robinson are far from over. I like to think the Gators have a few advantages over Miami as the recruitment of Chance continues.
For starters, the Gators have 5-star DJ Lagway committed to play QB, while the Canes have Judd Anderson, who’s outside of the top 1,000 players nationally.
Secondly, it doesn’t seem like John Ruiz is going to be able to sustain his NIL promises, what with LifeWallet plummeting.
So no, the Gators aren’t out of the race. In fact, they’re a pretty big threat.
