Florida football had a storied set of seasons between 2006 and 2009. Those years featured some of the best players to ever come through The Swamp, as well as some of the biggest stories and issues the program has faced.

Now, after years of speculation, it’s been confirmed that Netflix is creating a documentary called “Swamp Kings” that will be released on August 23rd.

This documentary is going to reveal a lot of things about that team that may be one of the most interesting teams of all time.

You have Tim Tebow, one of the best college players of all time who is an outspoken Christian and consistently looks for ways to help others.

And you have Aaron Hernandez who killed people.

We’ll get more insight into a scary defensive unit that included Brandon Spikes, Joe Haden, Major Wright, Ahmad Black, and others. Plus we’ll get some behind-the-scenes of players like Percy Harvin and the Pouncey twins.

And who doesn’t want to see what it was like playing for Urban Meyer at the height of his career?

This doc is going to have a little bit of everything. Some guys are going to come out looking like the model student-athlete who worked hard both on and off the field.

And some guys are going to have it brought up that they killed people.

The bottom line is that “Swamp Kings” could be one of the greatest sports documentaries of all time. And that isn’t just my bias toward the Gators saying that.

You don’t get many teams with star players as wildly different from each other as these Gator squads.

And I know I can’t wait to see it.

Keep up with Florida football at Hail Florida Hail.
