Florida football: What is the Gators’ ideal eight game schedule?
By Will Thomas
Florida football vs Kentucky Wildcats
Finally, the eighth game on our list is a trip back to Lexington, where the Gators have been quite often.
I’m obliged to mention the 31-game win streak the Gators went on over these Cats. But to their credit, they’ve come back and won three of the last five over Florida and have made the country forget about that streak pretty quickly.
Mark Stoops has Kentucky trending in the right direction, to the point where there aren’t many teams who can cruise into game week and beat these guys handily.
With both programs on an upward trend, even though Florida is a step or two back right now, these two teams could have a pretty entertaining few years facing off with each other.
Also, like the Tennessee game, this series has given us a lot of awesome moments.
One of my favorites is to picture Kentucky leaving Gators wide receivers wide open not just once, but twice to lose the game at home.
And in 2020 when JJ Weaver talked tough about Kyle Pitts pre-game just to get toasted by him on the opening drive, and get rocked to sleep on another of Pitts’ scores that game.
Like the Vols, the Wildcats are a big part of UF’s season. We hate them, and they don’t compare to us, but the season wouldn’t be the same without them on our schedule.
Keep up with Florida football at Hail Florida Hail.
