Florida football: What is the Gators’ ideal eight game schedule?

This one I really got excited about when the idea popped into my head.

The last matchup between the Gators and the Tigers was in 2019 when the Gators won a thriller over the Bo Nix lead Auburn team to solidify what we thought was the start of a dynasty under Dan Mullen.

We were wrong.

But that’s not the point. We don’t get to see a whole lot of Auburn even though these two teams compete very well against each other.

Since the turn of the century, the Gators have only played Auburn in the regular season seven times, and just once since 2011.

Of those games, three were within one score and the rest finished with an 11-point margin or less.

When two teams play that well against each other, you pretty much have to give them the opportunity to do it more often, which is what the SEC will hopefully do now.

Plus, Auburn is really struggling to get any positive momentum going in their program. If there’s ever a time to play these guys, it’s now.
