Florida football recruiting is looking to add depth to its trenches and gain a solid recruiting presence in the state of Texas.

They have the chance to do both in the recruitment of a top ten OT in the 2024 class.

4-star OT Michael Uini narrowed his recruitment down to six schools yesterday, and the Gators made the cut.

The other schools on his list include Texas, Alabama, Michigan, Clemson, and Georgia.

Uini is highly rated across the industry and has an On3 industry ranking as the 152nd-best player in the country, the 10th-best OT in the class, and the 27th-best player coming out of Texas.

Standing at 6’7”-290, Michael is an incredibly powerful blocker and uses his strength to his advantage. He’s a bulldozer on the field and just bullies anybody who’s standing in front of him.

When watching his tape, it’s easy to fall in love with how strong and physical he is. But I would like to see him gain a little more quickness before he gets up to the college level.

Trying to stay in front of SEC pass rushers isn’t easy, and he’ll need some finesse to do that.

While the Gators and Billy Napier have a good bit of ground to make up to catch the leading Texas Longhorns, they aren’t out of his recruitment at all.

Uini has an official visit scheduled to come to Gainesville the weekend of June 9th, which is starting to become a big-time week on campus.

Plus, Uini may want to come block for fellow Texas player DJ Lagway in The Swamp.

Building depth and stability on both lines is critical to the success of any program, and Napier understands that.

Landing players like Michael go a long way in building that depth and adding talent to the room.
