Florida football recruiting is setting up June 2nd to be one of the biggest recruiting weekends in recent memory on any college campus.

There will be a number of 5-star players, both committed to the Gators and elsewhere, as well as many other highly regarded prospects that remain uncommitted.

One of those uncommitted guys just announced that he’ll be making his way to The Swamp that weekend in Jalyn Crawford.

Crawford is a 4-star DB out of Lilburn, Georgia, who the Gators have been pushing for since they offered him in early April.

As we wrote about at the time of his offer, Crawford is a very aggressive, ball-hawking corner, who would fit very well into Corey Raymond’s secondary.

While he could stand to add a little more mass to his 6’0”-180 pound frame, he still matches up well against receivers and isn’t intimidated if they have a size advantage.

With that aggression does come some drawbacks, mainly in the form of penalty flags. He has a habit of grabbing jerseys in coverage, which he’ll get called for in college.

Plus, as he moves up to D-1, over-aggression can easily lead to getting beat downfield, but these are simple fixes he’ll address before he’s an everyday player in college.

On3’s prediction machine says that the Gators have some ground to make up in Crawford’s recruitment.

Florida is currently in third place, with a 3.5% chance to land Jalyn. Above them is Auburn at 7%, and at the top is LSU with a 75.4% shot.

Crawford has OV’s to see each school, so Billy Napier will have to wow him on the 2nd if he wants to keep up.

At this point, it’s impossible to throw in the towel when it comes to recruiting a southern DB. That’s what UF is built on.

We’ll see if they can finish the job.
