With the transfer portal wrapped up and 2023 rosters almost set in stone, it’s time to predict where we think Florida football will finish in relation to the SEC East for the 2023 season.

Is it way too early to make predictions?

Probably.

Are you reading this because you are desperate for the college football season to start?

Probably.

These are snapshot reactions, and if they are wrong, don’t you dare go running to Old Takes Exposed unless you have your own list to compare.

Or do tag them. Do what you want to do.

Either way, here is our prediction at Hail Florida Hail for how the SEC East will shake out in 2023.

887. . . . Commodores . 7. team

SEC Power Rankings: Anchor still down

2022 Record: 5-7

2023 FPI Rating: -2.9

ESPN Win Projection: 4-8

Yes, Florida football lost to Vanderbilt last year.

But even with the win, the Commodores still finished dead last in the SEC East. The reality is that Vanderbilt still doesn’t have a roster on paper that can be trusted to do anything but finish dead last.

They had the worst transfer portal haul in the SEC, and their recruiting, while better than one may think, still isn’t high enough to stay competitive every single week.

AJ Swan is a respectable enough QB, but this isn’t deep enough of a roster.
