Florida football recruiting: Gators secure official visit for in-state DL
By Will Thomas
Florida football recruiting is starting to finalize all the official visits that they’ll host over the summer, with June 2nd looking like the biggest day of the offseason.
Guys like DJ Lagway and Jeremiah Smith are already committed to coming to Gainesville that weekend, and an in-state DL target just added his name to the list.
4-star DL D’antre Robinson has locked in an official visit to come to see the Gators on June 2nd.
Robinson has a few other OVs scheduled over the summer to go see Texas, Ohio State, and Georgia.
Robinson is a massive presence on the interior of the defensive line. Standing at 6’4”-315, there really isn’t anybody he plays currently who matches up to him size-wise.
He isn’t just a big body for the sake of taking up space. He’s very good at using technique to get into the backfield and has great range to stop a ball carrier before he gets to open space.
You can’t sleep on his athleticism either. He has a play on his film where he lays out for a tipped pass and makes the interception.
In his junior season in 2022, Robinson recorded 57 tackles, three TFLs, and one sack.
Even when Robinson isn’t making plays himself, he attracts so much attention that it frees up his teammates to get involved.
D’antre is a very valuable asset to have on the DL, and it’s clear that Billy Napier and Austin Armstrong see that.
As of now, the Gators are the favorites to land the DL out of Orlando.
On3’s prediction machine gives them a 30% chance to land D’antre, with Texas in second at 17.7%, and Ohio State behind them at 11.4%.
June 2nd is already a huge weekend for the Gators, and a commitment from Robinson would make it even bigger.
