Florida football recruiting is really starting to gain some inroads with the best players across multiple recruiting classes.
Top guys like Jeremiah Smith and Colin Simmons in the 2024 class have been impressed with the Gators, and are serious candidates to join their class.
In 2025, Florida has the same kind of momentum.
Just a couple of days after offering 5-star wide receiver Ryan Williams, a current Alabama commit, the Gators are a contender in Ryan’s recruitment.
Williams said to On3, “I’m definitely going to get to Gainesville ASAP.”
If you read our piece on Williams after the Gators offered him, then you know how important of a recruit he is in the 2025 cycle.
If you didn’t read it, take a look.
Ryan could walk onto just about any college campus tomorrow and be a starter out wide. He’s that kind of talent.
His athleticism and speed are one of a kind, and he has abilities in open space that just don’t make a whole lot of sense.
In the days since he was offered, Williams has also developed a very strong relationship with Gators’ assistant coach Austin Armstrong.
So the Gators have a few things going for them here as they try to flip Williams’ commitment.
First off, the quick chemistry between Ryan and UF’s coaches is a great sign. Plus, the Gators have a pair of elite QBs coming in that Williams would benefit from playing with.
DJ Lagway is coming in the class of 2024, and in the class of ’25, Austin Simmons will be in Gainesville, which is the same time that Williams would get there.
Obviously, being over a year away from Ryan’s final decision means that nothing that happens over the summer is final.
But some early momentum here for the Gators is a great sign and may be indicative of how recruiting is going to be in Gainesville from now on.
