Florida football recruiting: Walter Matthews

Walter Matthews sets himself apart from the other tight ends in the 2024 class with his size.

He stands at 6’7”-245, which is bigger than any other tight end in the top 20 of the position rankings.

That size doesn’t take away from his other skills either. He has 4.6 speed and a non-verified 37-inch vertical jump.

He combines that with consistent catching and great RAC, making him a threat anywhere on the field.

Matthews just concluded an unofficial visit with the Gators last week and has an official visit scheduled for June 9th, as well as an OV to see USC, the biggest threat to UF here.

Recently we’ve written about two other TE targets the Gators are going after, Eric Karner and Caleb Odom. Matthews has some of the best traits from both of these guys, making him such a highly-regarded target.

One prediction: UF 32.6%

HFH prediction: UF 40%
