SEC Power Rankings: South Carolina, come on and raise up

2022 Record: 8-5

2023 FPI Rating: 5.6

ESPN Win Projection: 5.5

Draft Kings Win Projection: 6.5

Best Recruiting Class Last Four Years: 16th (2023)

Transfer Portal: 11th in SEC

If not for their back-to-back upsets over Tennessee and Clemson to end the 2022 regular season, no one would bat an eye if you said that South Carolina would win six games in 2023.

They do have a veteran roster coming back, with every projected starter on offense being a junior or senior.

Spencer Rattler is back under center, and it highlights the problem with this roster. It’s a veteran roster, but it’s not a highly touted one. The 2021 recruiting class had zero four-stars on it, and they didn’t do much in the transfer portal.

This is the same squad that got smacked by Florida before their back-to-back upsets. Shane Beamer has enough tricks up his sleeve to pull an upset or two, but window dressing can only take this roster so far.
