SEC power rankings after Spring Practice: It’s complicated in Gainesville
SEC Power Rankings: It’s good to be the king
2022 Record: 15-0
2023 FPI Rating: 27.4
ESPN Win Projection: 11.5
Draft Kings Win Projection: 11.5
Best Recruiting Class Last Four Years: 1st (2020)
Transfer Portal: 12th in SEC
ESPN’s FPI metric has Alabama as the better-rated team, but as back-to-back national champions, Georgia has earned the right to hold down the top spot until they are dethroned.
Like Alabama, Georgia didn’t take in a ton of guys from the transfer portal because they didn’t have to. They have been in the top five for recruiting for the last four cycles and show no signs of slowing down in 2023.
The most interesting subplot in Athens is who will take over for Stetson Bennett this season. Carson Beck has the inside track for now.
But given the SEC East is a little more forgiving than the West, and Georgia will probably make it to November before taking on anyone that will even make them sweat, the Bulldogs don’t plan of giving up their crown any time soon.
