Florida Football Backbreakers: Hendon Hooker runs wild

1st & 10 at TENN 38
(5:32 – 3rd) Hendon Hooker run for 44 yds to the Fla 18 for a 1ST down

Win Probability – 55% Tennessee to 64.7%

Personally, the failed third-down stop late in the first half while Tennessee was backed up on its own goal line that eventually led to a touchdown later in the drive is the bigger “What if” play from the Tennessee game.

But according to the metrics, Hendon Hooker running for 44 yards mid-way through the third quarter gave Tennessee a 10% boost on that play alone.

Tennessee had regained the lead 24-21, but a sack on this play would have made it 2nd a 16 with a chance to get off the field.

Instead, Tennessee scored a touchdown four plays later to take a 31-21 lead and wound up winning 38-33.
