Florida football recruiting: Gators secure official visit from 2024 5-star
By Will Thomas
Florida football recruiting is looking to assemble one of the best defensive classes in the nation, and one of their best in recent history.
With guys like Myles Graham, Xavier Filsaime, and Adarius Hayes already locked in, the Gators have a great foundation for an elite cycle.
They’re heating up in pursuit of another 5-star as well.
Florida has secured an official visit from Jordan Ross, a 5-star EDGE out of Birmingham, Alabama.
247 Sports has Ross ranked as the 12th-best player in the country, the 2nd-best EDGE in the class of ’24, and the best player coming out of Alabama.
The Gators recently made the top eight for Jordan, and with this OV scheduled it’s clear that UF is in the upper tier of that handful of teams.
Ross also has OV’s scheduled to go see Georgia, Texas, and Tennessee.
Given that I just wrote up a scouting report on Ross a few days ago, I’ll spare you all (and myself) that repetition.
Instead, I’ll focus on what landing this visit could mean for the Gators.
No, there are not participation trophies in recruiting. You either land the signature or you don’t. But Billy Napier should feel good about getting Ross on campus for an OV because over the past few years, guys with the pedigree like Jordan wouldn’t make a stop in Gainesville.
Maybe they’d come to check it out for a weekend or catch a game, but never for an official visit.
Getting Ross on board shows that recruits are starting to see UF as a legit presence on the trail again, despite on-the-field performance.
If Napier is going to be able to rebuild the Gators, successes on the trail are a must. And it seems like we’re headed in that direction.
Keep up with Florida football recruiting at Hail Florida Hail.
