Florida Football NFL Draft Biggest Surprises: Justin Shorter goes in the fifth round

Justin Shorter. player. Scouting Report. 3. 16. Pick Analysis. Wide Reciever. Florida

Justin Shorter was on the verge of being a sixth or seventh-round pick heading into the draft, as multiple publications labeled him as a late Day 3 selection. Given his size and length, it’s easy to see why an NFL team would take a shot at him.

What was very surprising was to see him selected in the fifth round by the Buffalo Bills. In retrospect, the Bills taking a receiver in the fifth round makes sense, as their third-most leading returning receiver behind Stephan Diggs and Gabe Davis is Trent Sherfield, but seeing Shorter get picked ahead of a number of other receivers that were still available was not expected.
