Florida football recruiting: Gators offer 6th-ranked OT in 2024 class
By Will Thomas
Florida football recruiting isn’t messing around when it comes to recruiting the state of Texas in the 2024 cycle. With DJ Lagway and Xavier Filsaime already committed, the logo is starting to become relevant out west.
Now, Billy Napier and the Gators have extended an offer to an elite pass blocker from Texas.
Florida has offered Blake Ivy, a 4-star OT out of League City.
247 Sports Composite Rankings have Ivy as the 98th-best player in the country, the 6th-best offensive tackle in the ’24 class, and the 18th-best player coming out of Texas.
Ivy already holds offers from in-state schools like Texas A&M, Texas, and TCU, as well as other SEC schools like LSU, Ole Miss, and Missouri.
When watching his film, it’s clear why so many high-level teams want him. He has great size at 6’4”-280 and has the strength to flatten defensive linemen or linebackers trying to get past him.
What he has that others don’t is great athleticism. He has very quick feet and can easily get up to the second level on run plays, clearing a huge path for the running back.
Having that combination of speed and strength on the OL is rare at his age, and he will just develop into an even better player as his recruiting process continues.
Being from Texas, Blake will likely have both Lagway and Filsaime in his ear about continuing is career in Gainesville.
DJ has been one of Florida’s best recruiters and would love to bolster up his O-line before he gets to campus.
In fact, DJ is already on the case.
Ivy would be a huge (literally) addition to the Gators 2024 recruiting class. Both Lagway and Napier have made it clear how badly they want to finish in the top five of this cycle.
If they want to do that, landing Ivy is going to be a top priority.
Keep up with Florida football recruiting at Hail Florida Hail.
