It is not unfair to say that Indianapolis Colts just took a massive swing to turn around their fortunes by drafting Anthony Richardson at number four overall. If you have at all followed the draft process for Richardson, you would know that NFL scouts fell in love with him while Florida football fans were looking around like, “Really?”

Just know this Colts fans, you are getting a QB that could lead you to a Super Bowl.

You are also getting a QB that could be on the trading block by next season.

May the odds forever be in your favor.

Anthony Richardson: Get Rich or die trying

In Gainesville, Florida fans clamored for Richardson to start over Emory Jones. Whether it was injury or Dan Mullen being stubborn, that didn’t happen in 2021.

He finally got his chance as a full-time starter in 2022 and had the college football world in the palm of his hand on opening night against Utah, as Florida was already dreaming of going 12-0 following the win over the Utes.

Then the Kentucky game happened the next week.

Richardson is that he can do things no other QB can do. He can give a pump fake 360 no scope and get into the endzone. He can chuck the ball for 70 yards. He can take off and run 70 yards.

The problem is he also can’t throw a 10-yard out route or a wide receiver screen with any accuracy.

There is a hint of truth that Richardson was hampered by Billy Napier’s offense that often went two blocking tight ends and only gave Richardson two wide receivers running streaks to throw to.

But even when given safe, reliable throws he couldn’t complete them with any consistency. His completion percentage in 2022 was 53.8%, and he threw nine interceptions to go with his 17 passing touchdowns.

That’s a worse completion percentage than Zach Wilson had in 2022.

What the [Team] is betting on is that they can fix the issues that led to these poor completion numbers. Richardson is able to read defenses and scan the field, and Indianapolis believes they can design an offense that better highlights his strengths.

We wish we could give you a better vote of confidence Colts fans, but know if you are able to fix the accuracy issues, you have your franchise QB for the next ten years.
