Florida football: Brenton Cox Jr., Round 5, Pick 174, Las Vegas Raiders

We all remember what happened with Brenton Cox during his time in Gainesville. A 5-star transfer from UGA who had a solid first year with the Gators, but then got dismissed from the team around the midway point this season.

He’s looking to leave all of his college troubles behind and start anew in the NFL. There are a few mocks that have Cox going late in the first round, but I just don’t see it happening.

Sure, the talent is there. But I think character questions could cause him to have to wait until the later rounds.

Like Dexter, Cox fits with Vegas pretty well. I’ll bring up Mason Crosby again, but this time as a mentor. Learning under someone with the work ethic and pedigree of Crosby can help Brenton develop quickly and become a real threat off the edge.
