Florida football recruiting has had a huge presence in the state of Texas throughout the 2024 cycle and is looking to snag another elite playmaker from the Lone Star State.

The Gators made the top-nine schools for 4-star wide receiver Drelon Miller out of Silsbee, Texas.

247 Sports Composite Rankings have Miller ranked as the 65th-best player in the country, the 13th-best wideout in the class, and the 13th-best player coming out of Texas.

Other schools that made the cut include Georgia, LSU, Texas A&M, USC, and others.

When looking at Miller’s tape, you’re obviously impressed with his abilities. But one thing you notice is that it doesn’t look like he has great breakaway speed, and isn’t a real burner on the outside.

His track times are consistent with that analysis. While his speed isn’t necessarily a liability, it isn’t a big strength of his either. He has a personal record of 11.75 in the 100m dash which he ran in April of 2022.

The good news for Miller is that he’s a great enough player to where his shortcomings in speed don’t deter some of the top schools in the country from going after him.

Drelon uses great route running to get past defenders and make them look lost. He’s very strong at the catch point and just bullies corners that are in his way.

Silsbee also used Miller as a running back. In 2022 Drelon got 40 carries for 361 yards and three touchdowns. Out wide he caught 59 passes for 1,401 yards and 21 touchdowns. He also picked two passes off defensively and brought a kick back to the house.

Miller just makes plays. Plain and simple. His production shows that he can have his way with any defense at any position.

As of right now, Drelon has two OV’s scheduled, one to Miami and one to USC. Billy Napier and his staff will need to be proactive to snag one of those spots if they want to land the talented pass catcher.
