10 biggest Florida football NFL Draft busts of all time
Florida Football NFL Draft bust No. 9: Sharrif Floyd
2013 Draft, Round 1, Pick 23
Minnesota Vikings, 2013-2017
Injuries are a part of football, and it can be unfair to label someone as a bust when their career is cut short due to them. That’s the case for defensive tackle Sharrif Floyd, drafted by the Minnesota Vikings with the 23rd pick in 2013.
While with Florida, Floyd was recognized as a first-team All-American his junior season after racking up 8.5 tackles for loss, leading the team. He declared for the draft after three seasons.
Floyd had a great NFL Combine that included a 4.92-second 40-yard dash, and at one point it looked like he could go in the top ten. Though he ultimately fell to 23rd, Floyd was productive once he was a mainstay in the rotation for the Vikings in his second season.
In 2014 he had 42 tackles with 4.5 sacks, and he had another 34 tackles in 2015.
But then the injuries set in, and a knee injury during the first game of the 2016 campaign essentially ended his NFL playing career.
Floyd is now an assistant coach with the Dallas Cowboys.
