Florida Football NFL Draft bust No. 1: Paul Duhart
1945 Draft, Round 1, Pick 2
Green Bay Packers, 1944
Pittsburgh Steelers,1945
Boston Yanks, 1945
If you are asking yourself, “Who is Paul Duhart?” he played for Florida football in 1942 before joining the Army in 1943. Likewise, Florida didn’t field a football team in 1943. Something about a war that involved the world.
Post-war, Duhart returned to football and played the 1944 season with the Green Bay Packers. The NFL landscape was much different, and he was forced to go through the NFL draft.
Duhart was drafted second overall in 1945 by the Pittsburgh Steelers. He lasted two games with Pittsburgh before the Boston Yanks bought him out.
Duhart got hurt and never played again after 1945. He finished his NFL career with 200 rushing yards.
He eventually settled in California and was a high school coach for decades.
He passed away in 2006 at the age of 85.
