Billy Napier caused quite the stir last week after the Spring Game when he stated that Florida football would be in the market for a QB in the transfer portal. This wasn’t anything new, as Napier had said something similar back in February. Still, after the performance of Graham Mertz and Jack Miller on Thursday, Gator Nation’s impatience is again on high alert.

The odds of landing a top-tier QB at this point are fairly low, but as names start to pop up in the transfer portal, we look at who are the top-rated prospects that are actually available for the Gators to grab.

Spoiler alert, this list is fairly thin.

Florida Football: Michael Alaimo

Michael Alaimo was a four-star prospect out of New Jersey in the class of 2020. He signed with Purdue, but outside of four appearances over three years, he left Purdue having only made 18 career passing attempts.

With Hudson Curd transferring in from Texas and Brady Allen sticking around, 2023 looked like another year on the bench for Alamio.

He was considered the 12th-best pro-style passer from high school, so the potential to break out exists.

Alaimo is the only former four-star prospect still in the transfer portal. Realistically he wants an opportunity to start, so unless Napier feels like Alamio can come in and take the starting job, it is unlikely Alaimo will come to Gainesville.

But he is still one to keep an eye on.
