We chronicled earlier today five potential candidates Florida football could be looking at in the transfer portal to fulfill Billy Napier’s desire to grab a fourth scholarship QB for the Gators. The list is admittedly not the most exciting group of QBs, and the odds of finding someone better than Graham Mertz or Jack Miller will be tough.

But as more and more names start to pop up, we will look at five more potential candidates the Gators could get out of the portal and bring to Gainesville.

Florida Football: Grayson McCall, again

Let’s get the most obvious one out of the way first. Grayson McCall was at the top of many fan lists back in December when Florida was trying to find its QB1. McCall, out of Coastal Carolina, has started the last three years in Conway, SC, and has a career completion percentage floating around 70%.

Last year he threw for 2,700 yards, 24 TDs, and just two interceptions.

Much of the smoke surrounding McCall’s wanting to transfer is seemingly around his desire to play against Power 5 competition to prepare him for the NFL. However, the problem is that his academic credits won’t transfer neatly from Coastal Carolina to another school.

As a personal aside, having spent some time in South Carolina myself, this isn’t unheard of for Coastal Carolina academic credits to have issues.

For now, McCall is still in Conway. But if his name pops into the transfer portal, you have to believe Napier will stop whatever he is doing to give McCall a call.
