Florida football recruiting hasn’t been afraid to go after out-of-state players in the 2024 cycle as they aim to finish with an elite class in the country.

They continued that trend this weekend as they extended an offer to a top-ten CB in ’24 out of the state of Georgia.

While he was on campus this weekend, Napier and the Gators offered Jalyn Crawford, a 4-star corner out of Lilburn, Georgia.

247 Sports has Jalyn ranked as the 93rd-best player in the country, the 9th-best corner in the class, and the 16th-best player coming out of Georgia.

Crawford is a very talented player who has other top schools in the South going after him. The Gators will have to beat out Auburn, Clemson, LSU, and others to land him.

Jalyn is a natural cover guy, with great length in his arms. He’s reliable in both man and zone coverage meaning that he can succeed in any scheme he walks into.

He’s very aggressive as a corner, which has both its pros and cons. On the pro side, he’s quick to the ball and always challenges the receiver at the catch point.

As a junior, he picked off three balls and brought a few of those back to the house.

With that aggression comes a few drawbacks, the biggest of which is penalties. Andrew Ivins of 247 Sports noted that he’s prone to grabbing at the wideout’s jersey and drawing some penalties.

As he starts to face off against college receivers, that aggression could lead to him getting beat downfield for big plays.

As he continues to play and gains more experience, those flaws will correct and he’ll be a very well-rounded player.

Crawford is the type of guy that the Gators have traditionally been able to land on the trail. DBU, a southern player, and a great talent.

With Corey Raymond in charge of the DB room, and UF’s momentum on the trail improving, don’t be surprised to see the Gators as one of the finalists for Crawford.
