Florida Football Recruiting: Don’t sleep on TJ Moore’s athleticism

TJ Moore just dropped his top 12 schools, and the Florida Gators made the list. The Tampa native is a four-star wide receiver and will visit the Florida football facilities this weekend.

And much like his Twitter bio says, the film for Moore does the talking.

Florida Football: Hop hop hop

Moore appears to have gone to the Odell Beckham School of Receiving because his highlight reel features one-handed catches and leaps over opposing corners right off the bat.

Listed at 6’3″ and 190 pounds, Moore has the built-in length needed for the SEC.

His film is a mixture of toe-tapping catches, double moves to get open, and making it known he is the most athletic player on the field. He had 45 catches with Tampa Catholic for 1,196 yards for an eye-popping 26.5 yards per catch.

He helped Tampa Catholic win over Tampa Jesuit last season, its first win in over two decades over its cross-town rival.

Moore doesn’t necessarily have the top-end speed that other top-rated receivers around him may have. His current PR in the 100-meter dash of 11.13 seconds is decent but is still two-tenths of a second outside the top 100 in all of Florida.

Where his athleticism does shine is in the high jump. With a personal best leap of 1.92m/6′ 3.5″, Moore is currently ranked in the top eight for class 2A in Florida and has the fourth-best high jump among all juniors in the state.

What will be interesting to follow is if Napier prioritizes Moore over going after five-star teammates Jeremiah Smith and Joshisa Trader. Smith is committed to Ohio State but has been on campus a couple of times recently. Likewise, Trader is projected to Miami but recently teased Florida on his Twitter.

Either way, TJ Moore is an athletic receiver that could slide into the Florida football wide receiver room and make film study a must-watch endeavor.
