Florida football recruiting continues to host elite talent from across the country week in and week out on campus. Among those visitors this week was a top-15 linebacker from Virginia.
Kristopher Jones made his second trip to The Swamp over the weekend, and the Gators sit in a good spot in his recruitment.
247 Sports Composite Rankings has Jones ranked as the 143rd player in the country, the 13th-best linebacker in the class, and the top player out of Virginia.
Kristopher appeared to enjoy his second visit to Gainesville, and the trip may have put the Gators in an even better spot than they were before.
Jones currently stands at 6’2”-220, but Brian Dohn of 247 Sports has high praise for Jones and says he has the frame to add ten pounds and still keep his speed and mobility.
“Demonstrated good chance of direction during March camp eval and was timed at 4.5 seconds (40-yard dash).”
Kristopher isn’t a one-dimensional player at the linebacker position either. He’s both “Active playing down hill and shows he can play in coverage.”
Kristopher isn’t afraid to crash the line of scrimmage and drive the ball carrier back as Dohn said, and that shows in his film.
Dohn did have some critiques for Jones’ play. “Has to continue to develop hand play when taking on blockers. Plays high at times.” Dogn also says that Kristopher has to increase his lower body flexibility to enhance his ability to change direction and maintain speed.
These issues didn’t stop Jones from having an outstanding season in 2022. He totaled 142 tackles, 26 of which were for a loss to go along with 10 sacks and an interception. Jones also got reps at running back.
If Napier and the Gators can close on Jones, it would be a huge win on the trail, and a big addition to the linebacker room alongside Myles Graham.
