Over the last month, Florida football has offered plenty of talented players visiting campus. One of the players was three-star offensive lineman Marcus Mascoll out of Georgia.

Mascoll may not have the star rating as some other prospects that have come through campus, but as always, we here at Hail Florida Hail like to look at the film to see what Billy Napier sees in the 2024 prospect.

Florida Football: Big man from Georgia

Mascoll is listed as 6’5″ and 286 pounds. With the right strength program and time, Mascoll can easily bulk up to the size needed to compete in the SEC.

Playing in Georgia’s largest division, Mascoll also has participated in track and field, with a respectable toss of 43 feet and 9 inches in the shot put as a 10th grader.

On film, Mascoll showcases quick feet and can get upfield well. In run blocking, he does well when asked to block to his inside and move defensive lineman out of the way. His South Gwinnett High squad also runs a lot of guards/tackle counters that require him to come across the line and find his man to block.

He can get good depth and hold the edge easily in pass protection and seems to react well to various defensive pressure.

As mentioned, though, Mascoll is low on the recruiting scale. 247 Sports has him rated 79th among offensive tackles and 774th overall in the country.

Part of this is because he will need to fill out his frame. And perhaps because his frame hasn’t filled out, Mascoll doesn’t have the ferocity as some others we have reviewed on film.

But as we have said multiple times on this site, 6’5″ guys and above are ultimately a sparse commodity when it comes to offensive linemen. With weight gain, Mascoll can be a solid lineman. He understands the game well and is already comfortable with multiple blocking schemes.
