Pete Alonso
One of the bright stars in all of Major League Baseball right now, Pete Alonso had a dominant junior year with Florida baseball in 2016, hitting .374 with 14 home runs and 60 RBIs.
He was drafted by the New York Mets in the second round of the draft in 2016. It took Alonso a couple of years in the minors to move up, but he debuted with New York in 2019 and hit 53 home runs during his rookie campaign.
Alonso has kept up his pace and hit 131 RBIs last season. He has also won the Home Run Derby twice. While still on his rookie deal, Alonso was able to renegotiate with the Mets last season.
He also appeared for Team USA during the WBC.
Alonso was 0-4 yesterday with a walk. He also is still adjusting to the new pitch clock in MLB.
Jeff McNeil was given a strike by the plate umpire after Pete Alonso took too long getting back to first base.
