Florida football: Gators land commitment from Josiah Davis
By Will Thomas
Florida football added to their already impressive 2024 recruiting class this afternoon with the commitment of a do-it-all guy out of Georgia.
Josiah Davis announced his commitment to the Florida Gators today.
Davis is a 3-star recruit from Nashville, Georgia, and is a top 50 player coming out of Georgia according to 247 Sports.
The Gators beat out Tennessee, Kentucky, NC State, and Louisville for Davis’ services.
Davis may not have a size that jumps off the page or the star rating that gets people’s attention. But if you cut the tape and watch him play, you’ll see why Florida wants this guy.
Davis is violent, plain and simple. From the safety position, he’s very good at blowing up blocks and getting to the ball carrier.
In his 2022 season, he racked up 70 tackles and snagged himself a pick-six.
Josiah was also effective on offense for his high school as a running back, where he totaled 104 carries for 895 yards and 12 touchdowns. Not to mention he threw for a touchdown and caught two more as well.
In addition to playing just about every position on the field, Davis was also a game-changer as a kick returner. He brought seven kicks all the way to the endzone with an average of 51 yards per return.
51.
Josiah simply has the qualities and skill set you need to flip a game on its head at a moment’s notice.
Davis made a visit to The Swamp early on in March, and was back in Gainesville this weekend, likely giving Napier and his staff the good news.
Some fans will see Davis’ low star rating and just brush him off as a filler commit to add guys to the roster. But overlooking Davis would be a mistake.
Now is the time to trust Billy’s evaluations, and let Josiah’s play speak for itself.
His time with the Gators won’t be quiet.
Keep up with Florida football at Hail Florida Hail.
