Florida football may be in a good position to add to their impressive 2024 recruiting class early next week.

In addition to all of the elite recruits that they hosted on campus this weekend, the Gators are in the top five for a safety prospect announcing his commitment on Monday afternoon.

3-star safety Josiah Davis will be committing early next week, and the Gators are currently the favorites to land him.

The other schools that Davis will be choosing between are Tennessee, Kentucky, NC State, and Louisville.

According to Corey Bender, the Gators have been leading Josiah’s recruitment ever since they extended an offer to him a few weeks back.

247 Sports has Davis ranked as the 41st-best safety in the class of 2024, and a top-50 player coming out of Georgia.

Josiah was a do-it-all guy for Berrian High School during his junior season. His primary position is safety, where he made 70 tackles and had a pick-six. But he also got tons of reps at running back with 104 carries for 895 yards and 12 touchdowns.

He also has a passing touchdown and two receiving touchdowns. He’s all over the field.

When you watch Davis’ film, there are two words that come to mind: Violent and disruptive.

He isn’t flying all over the field with crazy speed, but he flattens just about everyone who tries to block him and rips down the ball carrier with ease.

That kind of physicality will translate very well to SEC ball and is the kind of mentality that Florida’s defense needs.

Assuming Davis does end up choosing the Gators, he’ll be a great addition to the 2024 class. Sure, he doesn’t have the flashy ratings that other guys have. But he plays like an SEC safety and will fit right in with the Gators’ secondary.

We’ll see if Napier can seal the deal on Monday.

Keep up with Florida football at Hail Florida Hail.
