Florida football: New guys who can make an impact

The Gators have a trio of new guys that Gator fans should be excited about.

The first of which is Andy Jean, who coaches have been raving about thus far in spring camp. Andy was a four-star recruit in the class of 2023, and the Gators plucked from Miami who thought that Jean was all but signed to go to Coral Gables.

Jean is an absolute burner and has great size and strength to complement his speed. We’ll see Jean getting meaningful snaps and targets early on in the season, and don’t be shocked when he emerges as one of Florida’s top offensive weapons.

The next freshman coming in is Aidan Mizell. If you’ve seen Jean run and thought he was fast, wait until you see what Mizell can do in the open field.

He has a personal best of 10.65 in the 100 meters, and he has speed in his genes as his mother, Ebony Robinson, was an All-American sprinter at UF. Based on his attributes, Mizell could be who we thought Xzavier Henderson was going to be.

Impossible to tackle in the open field, shifty, and capable of creating huge plays from nothing.

The final freshman coming in is Eugene Wilson III, who doesn’t quite have the sprint speed of Mizell but is just as electric with the ball in his hands.

Andrew Ivins of 247 Sports says that Eugene is “A blur on tape that zigs and zags his way into the end zone”. During high school, Wilson was effective on both sides of the ball. He missed some time with an injury but caught 40 passes for 764 yards and 11 touchdowns, to go along with five picks, two of which he brought back to the house.

The freshman movement is real at UF, and these guys will all make an impact this season.
