Florida football: New faces with something to prove

The Gators, in addition to their returning production, are welcoming in a few new backs looking to make a good impression in their debut seasons.

Starting with Treyaun Webb, the true freshman out of Jacksonville, Florida is excited to show his in-state Gators what he can do. Webb was a 4-star recruit on 247 Sports in the 2023 class and was ranked as the 17th-best RB in the country.

Webb has already shown us what he’s capable of doing when he’s at the top of his game. In Florida’s 3A state playoffs, he ran for 876 yards and 10 touchdowns in four games.

Webb ran track in high school also, but Andrew Ivins said that Treyaun “seems to lack a true top-end gear.”

Treyaun has plenty of time to get ready for SEC ball with the two backs that are ahead of him.

The other new guy in the room is Tulane transfer, Cameron Carroll. Cam missed just about all of last season with an injury, but is back and ready for his 6th year in college.

The best season of his career was in 2020 with the Green Wave. He ran for 741 yards on 122 carries (6.1 YPC) and scored 12 times.

Carroll figures to be the 3rd guy on the depth chart heading into the fall behind Johnson and Etienne, likely getting the nod over the freshman Webb.

It will be exciting to see what Cam does as he makes the move to the SEC and looks to make up for last year’s lost season.
