Florida Football: Lane Kiffin’s son trolls dad with Gator gear
We here had Hail Florida Hail try to stick to Florida football and try to stay away from the TMZ world of “Did you see what Anthony Richardson ate while at the NFL combine?” A Twitter exchange between Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin and Florida head coach Billy Napier left us a bit confused, however.
After 30 seconds of internet research, we were able to connect dots that we probably should have already known.
Florida Football: TMZ
Kiffin tweeted out a photo of his son wearing a Florida Gators backpack with the question “What is going on.” He tagged Napier and then sent out a second clip of his son, Knox Kiffin, throwing a football.
This led to a celebatory response from Napier, which I guess is legal since Kiffin tweeted out his own son. Who knows anymore.
If you want to go down the TMZ rabbit hole, there is a connection for Knox Kiffin to be wearing Florida Gators’ gear. Lane married Layla Reaves in 2004. The couple divorced in 2016 but along the way she gave birth to Monte Knox Kiffin in 2009.
As we did already know, Lane Kiffin’s father is legendary defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin, whose Tampa 2 defense helped bring the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to their first Super Bowl.
Layla Reaves is the daughter of former Florida football QB legend John Reaves, who played on the Gators from 1969 to 1971 and then played 14 years of professional football between the NFL and USFL. Reaves eventually came back to Florida as an assistant coach under Steve Spurrier from 1990 to 1994.
John Reaves passed away in 2017.
So to recap, Lane Kiffin’s son has Monte Kiffin and John Reaves as his two grandfathers. Knox Kiffin is in the class of 2028, so it is going to be a while before we are breaking down his Hudl film.
