We covered this moment in our list of “Craziest moments in Florida Gators history,” but it feels appropriate to bring it up again for the luckiest moments.

Coming off their 2017 national title, the Gators were ranked first heading into the 2018 NCAA tournament. In their Super Regional round, the Gators squared off against a pesky Auburn squad looking to play spoiler.

The teams split the first two games of the series, leading to a winner take all game three. That game went into extra innings and it was tied at two runs a piece heading into the bottom of the 11th inning.

Austin Langworthy launched a line drive that made it to the warning track but was also heading right into the glove of the waiting right fielder.

The ball hit the glove, it just didn’t stay there as it bounced off and went over the right field fence for a home run to send Florida back to the College World Series.
