Florida football brought in a lot of great talent in their 2023 recruiting class, and one guy that may see some early playing time is Eugene Wilson III.

Wilson was a 4-star receiver in the 2023 cycle and was recently on the DZD Podcast talking about why he chose to come to UF.

Florida was Eugene’s dream school while he was growing up, and made an early impression on him.

"It’s crazy because they’ve been my dream school. They were like the first school I started watching when I started watching college ball…the first game was a UF game vs Tennessee and I’ve been watching them since.”"

It’s a good thing he started off with a Tennessee game because odds are he got to see a great game for the boys in the Orange and Blue.

Wilson also made it clear that he just felt comfortable in Gainesville and liked the feel of the program. That speaks to how well Napier has done building his culture and establishing what he wants to do early on in his tenure.

"“I was talking to them for a couple weeks before they even threw me the offer. And once they did, they was just up there and nobody really surpassed them. I went on a visit to A&M and it was close, but nobody really went up above UF. Ever since that night, I knew I wanted to go.”"

Being able to make an impression that sticks with recruits throughout their entire process is what can take a school’s recruiting from good to great. Wilson just couldn’t shake UF and knew that he wanted to be a Gator the entire time.

If Napier is able to have that same effect on more and more top recruits, the Gators will be back on top of the recruiting rankings sooner rather than later.

Keep up with Florida football at Hail Florida Hail.
