Florida football is hard at work putting together an elite recruiting class in the 2024 cycle, but it’s never too early to start to sink your teeth into the 2025 class and build a good foundation.

Yesterday, the Gators made the top eight for Taevion Swint, a running back in the class of 2025.

There aren’t many player rankings available yet for the 2025 cycle, but Rivals has him as the 92nd-best player in the class to this point. Any top 100 player is worth taking a shot at.

Swint’s top eight also includes FSU, Miami, Michigan, Texas, UCF, Tennessee, and Rutgers.

Swint put the country on notice early on in his freshman year with a breakout campaign. He ran for 612 yards and 12 touchdowns while averaging 7.2 yards per carry. He’s also a threat in the passing game, as he hauled in 16 passes for 189 yards and two more touchdowns.

Swint is a true do it all back out of the backfield and can give a defense fits all game long.

Taevion is already familiar with Florida’s program. He took a visit to The Swamp in September of last year and seems to have the preference of playing his college ball somewhere in Florida, making his recruitment a battle of in-state schools.

The recruitment of Swint will go a long way in re-establishing the Gators as a powerhouse on the recruiting trail. These past few years, we’ve watched top-tier guys from the state of Florida either leave the state or take John Ruiz’s checks at Miami just to go and miss a bowl game.

If Napier and his staff can start securing the commitment of these guys and taking talent off of other rosters, Florida will start their ascent sooner than a lot of people expect.

Landing Swint could be one of the first dominoes to fall in that process.
