Analysts’ jobs within college football are meant to give coaches a home while they hone their skills and eventually move on to an on-the-field role. Jamar Chaney got that promotion yesterday as it was announced the Florida Gators defensive analyst for linebackers was taking on a job with before Western Kentucky to be their on-the-field linebackers’ coach.

The news was first reported by Matt Zenitz of On3 Sports.

Chaney played at Mississippi State and worked with the Gators in 2019 before returning to Starkville to be an analyst in 2020 and 2021. He then returned to Gainesville in 2021.

Western Kentucky will be his first on-the-field coaching job in college.

Florida Gators: Kayla Dicello honored again

At this point in the season, the SEC Freshman of the Week should just be the Kayla Dicello award as she was given the distinction for the seventh time this season following her performance against Oklahoma last Friday.

She most notably scored a 9.950 on the vault.

The Florida Gators lost the dual meet and fell one spot in the national rankings to third, behind Oklahoma and Michigan.

Florida has a quad meet against North Carolina State, Texas, and Washington.

Divers going to nationals

The divers for the Florida Gators swimming and diving squad have a separate competition that qualifies them for nationals compared to the swimmers, and so far in Knoxville, the Gators have managed to get three divers through.

On Monday, Leo Garcia finished 7th in the 3-meter springboard and Maha Amer finished 5th in the 1-meter springboard to guarantee a trip to nationals.

Yesterday, Garcia finished 4th in the 10-meter platform to qualify for all three disciplines. Amer doubled up her program for Minneapolis after a 7th-place finish in the 3-meter.

They will be joined by Skip Donald after his 9th place finish in the platform to ensure he will make it to nationals.

The Zone B diving competition will wrap up today with the women’s platform.
