A couple of weeks ago Billy Napier was left with three vacancies on his coaching staff when his defensive coordinator, tight ends coach, and wide receivers coach all departed from the Florida Gators to the NFL.

Two of those three vacancies have been filled as it was announced that Russ Callaway was being promoted from defensive analyst to tight ends coach.

Callaway’s previous stops include being an analyst for Alabama, an offensive coordinator for FCS level Samford, and he spent the 2021 season with the New York Giants in the NFL.

Spring practice is underway for the Florida Gators and Napier just has wide receivers coach left to fill.

Obviously, the ending to his final season in Gainesville has been a bummer, but the season Colin Castleton had did not go unnoticed as he was chosen on the All-SEC First Team.

Castleton finished the season averaging 16 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 3 blocks per game. He broke his hand against Ole Miss on 2/15 and it ended his season.

He was also named to the All-Defensive team.

Riley Kugel also picked up recognition as he was named to the All-Freshman team after averaging 9.7 points per game.

Wyatt Langford is still good at baseball

With Jac Caglianone drawing the eyes of the college baseball world, it is easy to forget that the Florida Gators still have All-American Wyatt Langford on the team.

Over Florida’s five games last week against Jacksonville and Miami, Langford was 10-20 at the plate, with four home runs and six total extra-base hits. Langford scored nine runs.

His efforts were rewarded by being named the SEC Co-Player of the Week.

Langford is hitting .438 on the season and has 16 RBIs in 13 games played.

Baseball will continue its campaign with two mid-week games against FAU before a three-game series at home against Siena over the weekend.
