Everyone’s favorite time of year in the NFL offseason calendar is upon us as draft prospects show off their abilities in shorts and a t-shirt in a variety of drills that top prospects may or may not participate in. But with Anthony Richardson flying up draft boards, does it make sense for the former Florida Gators QB to do as much as he can?

All eyes on Anthony Richardson

QBs will take their turn in Indianapolis on Saturday, March 4 alongside wide receivers and tight ends.

The start time on Saturday is listed as 1 PM and can be seen on NFL Network.

In addition to scripted throws to show off their arms, QB prospects have the ability to participate in the following drills to showcase their athleticism:

  • 40-yard dash
  • 20-yard shuttle
  • 60-yard shuttle
  • 3-cone drill
  • Broad jump
  • Vertical jump
  • 225-pound bench press

It is doubtful that Richardson will do the bench press, though it would be entertaining. No QBs in 2022 took part in the test of strength. From there it was a mixed bag of who participated in what.

Eight of the fifteen QBs that participated last year ran the 40-yard dash and if Richardson is healthy, one would assume this would be an area he could shine at. But given his history of hamstring issues, it’s possible Richardson opts not to risk it at the combine.

Likewise, eight of the QBs did the broad jump last year and this too would be an event where Richardson could showcase his explosiveness if he opts to.

But beyond the athletic events, the anticipated highlight will be if Anthony Richardson shows off his arm strength. Much like the athletic events, QBs sometimes opt out of throwing at the combine in favor of waiting for their pro day.

Richardson hasn’t indicated yet what he will or won’t do at the combine, but if he is healthy he has all the tools needed to steal the show.
