Florida Gators: John Egbunu tear ligament in thumb

Heading into the SEC tournament in 2016, the Florida Gators men’s basketball team was projected to be on the outside looking in for the NCAA tournament.

Their prospects did not improve when John Egbunu tore the ligament in his thumb during practice.

Prior to that point he had been averaging 11.5 points and 6.3 rebounds per game.

Florida won their first game in the SEC tournament against Arkansas before being dispatched by Texas A&M.

The Gators were not selected for the NCAA Tournament and made it to the quarterfinals of the NIT before losing to George Washington.
