Florida Gators: Tough break for the QBs

Feleipe Franks had the size and the arm strength to be an all-time great for the Florida Gators. Unfortunately, due to accuracy issues and lack of progressions on his reads, he never quite ascended to his full potential.

More unfortunate was how his time in Gainesville came to an end.

Against Kentucky in 2019, Franks ran up the middle and as he came down, he was twisted into a pretzel. You can find a video of it online if you are a masochist, but let’s just say his leg bent in a way legs are not designed to bend.

No Florida Gators fan wants a player to have to go through what Franks went through. It did however bring Kyle Trask into the game, then an unknown backup, and gave rise to Trask’s career over the next season and a half.

Florida would rally to beat Kentucky, Trask would entrench himself as the starter for 2020, and Franks transferred to Arkansas before signing with the Atlanta Falcons as a TE.
