Florida basketball: Confidence meter for the next four games
By Will Thomas
Florida basketball has had just a brutal last two weeks. It started off with a trip to Kansas State, then hosting Tennessee, followed up by road games at Kentucky and Alabama. Florida went 1-3 over the stretch, with their lone win coming in their only home game against the Vols.
It doesn’t feel great right now, but there is light at the end of the tunnel for Florida basketball. As of now they’re hovering in the “First four out” category of Joe Lunardi’s bracketology, and need to string some wins together if they want to move up and secure a spot in the tournament.
Their upcoming schedule may be a chance to do that. 3 of the next four games will be in Exactech Arena, giving the Gators a break from traveling.
They also get to play some of the bottom teams in the SEC to get themselves right as they head into March and prep for the SEC Tournament. The importance of this team getting a few wins in a row cannot be overstated.
They need some positive momentum as they head into the final stretch of the season. Every year we see middle-of-the-pack teams find their rhythm in late February or early March and make a run.
There’s no reason that the Gators can’t be that team this year. They have the veteran leadership of Colin Castleton and Kyle Lofton, as well as an elite defense and the ability to wear their opponents down.
So without further ado, let’s look at Florida basketball’s next four games, and gauge the confidence level in Florida grabbing wins in each.
