Florida Football: Diamond In The Rough

Aiden Mizell was the center of attention in the wide receiver room for Florida football throughout the summer. He possesses legitimate track speed and gained notoriety for his announcement that he will be visiting Gainesville by holding real alligators.

On the other hand, Eugene Wilson from Tampa was buried a little further down the ranks. Wilson appeared to be a good slot option, but at 5-11, 165 pounds, with mediocre track times, it seemed like his style wouldn’t work in the SEC.

Well, by the end of his senior year, Wilson had become one of the best wide receivers in the nation. While his track times may not be as impressive as others, his film depicts a player who is essentially impossible to handle.

With his combination of shiftiness and speed, Wilson had 764 yards receiving off just 40 receptions for an average per catch of 19.1 yards. He also had 11 touchdowns, meaning one out of every four catches he had went for six.

247 Sports has Wilson just outside the top 100 overall players from the class of 2023 and On3 has him as a top 10 wide receiver in the country.
