Florida women’s basketball had a tough week, playing three games against multiple solid opponents in Auburn and Ole Miss, with an easy one mixed in against Texas A&M.

They beat the Aggies at home but dropped both road games to the Tigers and the Rebels, putting them at 14-9 overall with a 3-7 record in the SEC.

In the Gators’ most recent game against Ole Miss, KK Deans put up a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. But no other Gator got to 10 points, and the Gators got out-rebounded by 14.

Combine that with Florida’s 24.1% field goal percentage and you aren’t going to win a ton of games.

There is good news coming the Gators’ way, however, and that good news is the Mississippi State Bulldogs are coming to town to play Florida on Thursday.

Miss. St has a better overall record than the Gators at 15-7, but they’re just 2-4 away from their home court. Also, the Bulldogs are coming off a 34-point showing against Georgia in their last game.

If Florida is able to hold them to sub-40 again, you guys don’t need me to tell you how high their odds are of winning that game.

It will be nice for the Gators to get back home too. After a week of two tough road games, coming back to your home floor to take on a struggling offense is a great spot to bounce back.

After they take on Missisippi State, the Gators hit the road again to play the Georgia Bulldogs on Sunday. This game will be a little more challenging for Florida, as UGA is 16-9 overall and has home-court advantage.

The Gators will walk in to Stegeman Coliseum looking to avenge the loss that the Lady Bulldogs handed the Gators in Gainesville back in January, 82-77.

If Florida is able to handle business at home against Mississippi State, and then go get revenge on UGA, they’ll be in a good spot as we approach March.

Keep up with Florida women’s basketball at Hail Florida Hail.
