Once upon a time, February 1 was one of the most important dates in the college football season. A fury of high school recruits all made their decisions on this day and the future fate of teams would make or break based on the choosing of a hat. With the importance of early signing day and most recruits making their commitments well before that, the Florida Gators had very little to do yesterday.
The Gators did officially put pen to paper with four-star offensive lineman Caden Jones yesterday. Jones is out of Louisiana and checks in at 6-7, 329 pounds. He gave his verbal commitment to Florida on January 7.

Florida Gators Track: Diggs and Moore on Bowerman watchlist
The Bowerman is track and field’s equivalent of the Hesiman and the Florida Gators have two members of their women’s team that have made the watchlist that came out yesterday.
Talithia Diggs, the defending national champion in the 400 meter dash during both the indoor and outdoor season, ran the second fastest time in school history in the 60 meter dash at Clemson two weeks ago when she clocked 7.14. She followed that up by running 51.34 in the 400 meter dash at Arkansas, the fastest time in the country so far this year.
Jasmine Moore is the defending national champion in both the long jump and the triple jump for both indoor and outdoor track. Moore also won the meet at Clemson with a mark in the triple jump of 14.44m (47’4.5″), the best in the nation so far. She then added another national leading mark in the long jump when she posted a 6.64m (21’9.5″).
The women’s team is currently ranked 2nd in the nation according to the USTFCCCA computer rankings and are hoping to build on their national title they won during the indoor and outdoor seasons last year.
The Florida Gators will be back in Arkansas next week when they compete in the Tyson Invitational.
