Florida football brought in lots of talent and lots of potential in their 2023 recruiting class. They had one of the best D-line classes in the country and reloaded in the secondary.
The player with the highest upside however is on the offensive side of the ball.
Wide receiver Andy Jean has already started to transform his body into an absolute freak on the outside. When he signed with the Gators, he weighed 180 pounds, standing at 6’1”.
In Napier’s press conference yesterday, he told the media that Jean was up to 200 pounds. 20 pounds of muscle is a welcome addition to any player, just as long as it doesn’t hurt their speed.
In Jean’s case, it didn’t. He was praised for his speed coming out of high school, and Napier told us yesterday that Jean hit 22.5 MPH running the other day, “And I don’t think he was running as fast as he can.”
If you’re telling me there’s a guy on campus who should still be in high school that’s 200 pounds at receiver and jogging at 22.5 MPH, I’m ready to give the guy his brick already.
Jean wasn’t the highest-rated recruit before he signed. 247 Sports had him ranked as the 377th player in the nation, 56th best WR, and the 69th best player in the state of Florida.
Of the three receivers that the Gators signed (Aiden Mizell, Eugene Wilson), Jean is the lowest rated by 271 spots.
This is no knock on the other receivers that Florida recruited, but Jean is looking like he will become a freak in the Gator offense.
Both Mizell and Wilson are bringing elite, top-tier speed to the offense, and Jean is taking part of that speed and combining it with great size.
Expect Jean to find the field early and often in his freshman season, and become a household name sooner rather than later.
Keep up with Florida football at Hail Florida Hail.
