Florida basketball comes back home tonight to take on the #2-ranked Tennessee Volunteers in what hopes to be a bounce-back spot for the Gators.

It’d be easier to bounce back from a loss if the Gators got to play South Carolina again. Sadly, that isn’t the case.

The Vols have a strong case for being the best team in the country and have won nine of their last ten games coming into this one.

Despite Tennesse’s strong resume and Florida’s inconsistent offense, the spread isn’t quite as big as some people may think.

Florida basketball: Tighter number a good sign for Gators

The line for this game opened at -5.5 in favor of Tennessee and hasn’t moved since its release. What’s weird about that is that the Gators, despite only receiving 44% of tickets, have 88% of the money on them.

What?

That much money coming in for Florida and the line isn’t moving? Seems suspicious.

What this shows is that the big dogs in Vegas are riding with the Gators tonight to keep this a two-score game. And there is definitely a path for the Gators to not just keep it close, but to win.

If you want to play a side, it’s worth giving the Gators a shot, even though it may be uncomfortable against the #2 team in the nation.

If you don’t feel like picking a side is a good option, it’s worth looking at the total as well.

The over/under is currently set at 132 or 132.5, depending on where you look. It opened up at 130.5 and has gotten bet up a few points since last night.

If you liked the over, it may be too late for you to get on it as you’ll be getting the worst of the number. But no worries, there’s a good cap for the under, and here it is.

In Tennessee’s seven road games, the under is 5-2. When the Gators are at home, the under is 7-6.

Adding on to that, when the Vols are a favorite the under is 11-9, and 5-1 when the Gators are underdogs.

With Tennessee’s elite defense vs the Gators’ iffy offense, combined with in-conference road games always being tricky in college, the under is the better play here, especially after its been bought up two points.

So, your HFH best bets for this game: Gators +5.5, under 132.5. Let’s ride.

Keep up with Florida basketball at Hail Florida Hail.
