Florida football: Gators make the cut for 4-star athlete in 2024 class
By Will Thomas
Florida football may be on to something as they continue to build their 2024 recruiting class. After a big weekend of visitors, and the commitment of Adarius Hayes, the Gators are building some serious momentum on the trail.
They’re in the running for another elite prospect in the 2024 class as well. Jalewis Solomon just released his top-11 schools, and the Gators made the cut.
Solomon, out of Ellaville, Georgia, has already made a visit to Gainesville. He took an unofficial visit to The Swamp in April of 2022 before he even got an offer from UF which came in November.
247 Sports has Jalewis ranked as the 118th-best player in the class of 2024, and the 12th-best athlete.
He plays both sides of the ball for Schley County high school and excels in both spots. Defensively, he plays corner and racked up 22 tackles, eight pass breakups, and five picks in the 2021 season.
As a receiver, he caught 61 passes for 989 yards and 13 touchdowns. All of these impressive numbers earned him the right to participate at the Georgia Elite Classic.
To earn Solomon’s commitment, Billy Napier will have to go toe-to-toe with the best of the best on the recruiting trail. Teams like Georgia, Alabama, Ohio State, and USC all made Solomon’s top 11, as well as other competitive schools like Miami, FSU, Auburn, and South Carolina.
We’ve learned over the past few weeks that Napier isn’t going to shy away from competition on the recruiting trail. He’s begun to offer and push for guys that are already committed elsewhere in the SEC and is working hard to send a message to the conference that the Gators are coming back.
Beating out some of these top schools for Solomon’s commitment would be huge for the Gators as they keep building their 2024 recruiting class.
Keep up with Florida football at Hail Florida Hail.
