It’s no secret that the Pac-12 tends to not care about their sports as much as the SEC. The meme “Fire Larry Scott” is a well-known trope among west coast fans. And as the Florida Gators look ahead to the 2023 football season while trying to salvage what it can from the Jaden Rashada drama, a nugget came out in the Orlando Sentinel that won’t make traveling fans very happy.

The article cites that Utah’s plane troubles from last year’s game as one of the reasons for the switch. It also would give the Pac-12 a prime-time slot when people are itching to watch any and all college football over Labor Day weekend.

The official Florida Gators schedule does list Thursday as a possibility.

And recently the Florida Gators have played on non-traditional dates. Their game against Miami in 2019 was played in Orlando and was played during Week 0. The FSU game was moved to Friday and admittedly seemed to help the atmosphere and hype of the game.

The problem is that if you are a fan looking to travel to the game and have had this game on your radar for years, there is a good chance you have booked a flight and hotel already with the anticipation that the game is on a Saturday. If the game is moved to Thursday, fans have to rebook everything, and even if they haven’t booked yet the prospect of having to fly in on a Wednesday and take off three days of work is far less appealing that flying in Friday with the three-day weekend acting as a buffer.

Plus, for those of us watching at home, we now have to go to work the next day with a possible headache.

Because reasons.

Thanks Pac-12.

Florida Gators: Deadline for Jaden Rashada

Speaking of Rashada, there wasn’t much movement yesterday, at least publicly, in the ongoing saga. But if one were to take his father at his word, today might be a make or break day to get the QB on campus.

On Wednesday, Harlen Rashada’s quote to 247 Sports was:

"“We’re in constant talks with Florida in regards to his enrollment, but I’d like to think if he’s not enrolled by Friday there will be some challenges there to proceed as planned.”"

Well, today is Friday and if Jaden isn’t enrolled by today, we’ll see if there is in fact an official request to be released from the letter of intent.
