Remember that time that the Florida Gators were in the running to get Coastal Carolina QB Grayson McCall and it was going to serve as the perfect stop gap at the QB position while Jaden Rashada and DJ Lagway develop?

Fun times.

Turns out that the academic credits McCall has earned from Coastal Carolina have issues in transferring over to other schools. Admittedly, as someone with a bit of knowledge of Coastal’s academic standards, this doesn’t actually shock me.

So if it is any consolation prize for the Florida Gators, McCall has withdrawn from the transfer portal and will still be a Chanticleer in 2023.

Florida Gators: Mitchell to Gainesville is official

It was reported a couple of weeks ago that Ohio State LB Terjada Mitchell was going to make his way to Gainesville for the 2023 season.

Mitchell opted out after four games to preserve his redshirt status, but he wasn’t able to make it official until Ohio State’s season was over.

When the clock struck midnight on the Buckeyes, literally, it meant that Mitchell was free from the grasp of Ryan Day and could officially announce he was joining Billy Napier and the Florida Gators.

Mitchell was a starter for Ohio State in 2021 before eventually being phased out.

Florida Gators: We playing basketball

Todd Golden and his Golden Era has been more like the Bronze Era to this point for the Florida Gators men’s basketball team, but a home game against 8-5 Texas A&M provides Florida with the exact opponent that they need to beat to keep this season on track.

As it stands now ESPN’s Bracketology does not have the Gators making the NCAA tournament though computer rankings still have Florida in the discussion.

Florida is currently 45th in the KenPom rankings, while Texas A&M is ranked 75th.

Tipoff is at 7 PM and can be seen on the World Wide Leader in Sports.

That’s ESPN if you are too young to get that reference.
